Life gives us countless opportunities to turn back to Allah, yet we often delay that return. We tell ourselves that we will pray properly tomorrow, leave the sin later, make tawbah when we become older, and become closer to Allah when life becomes easier.
But tomorrow is never guaranteed.
One day, every soul will leave this world and return to Allah سبحانه وتعالى. The question is not whether we will return to Him. We will. The real question is: Will we turn to Allah willingly before we return to Him unwillingly?
Allah سبحانه وتعالى gives us a powerful reminder:
“And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.”
Qur’an 39:54
This verse carries both a warning and an invitation. Allah warns us not to delay repentance, but He also opens the door for us to return to Him.
We Know We Will Return to Allah
Every person makes plans for the future.
We plan our careers.
We plan our businesses.
We plan our marriages.
We plan our homes.
We save money for the future.
We worry about tomorrow.
Yet we often neglect the one future that Allah has guaranteed: our return to Him.
No matter how successful we become, death will eventually separate us from everything we own. Our wealth will remain behind. Our businesses will continue without us. Our homes will belong to someone else. The people we love will eventually carry us to our grave.
Then we will stand before Allah سبحانه وتعالى.
That reality should change the way we live today.
Do Not Wait Until You Become Perfect
Many people think they need to become a better person before they can return to Allah.
They say:
“I have committed too many sins.”
“I am not worthy to pray.”
“I have made the same mistake too many times.”
“I will start practicing Islam when I become a better person.”
But this thinking keeps a person away from the very One who can transform them.
Allah does not tell the sinner to run away from Him. He calls the sinner back to Him.
Allah سبحانه وتعالى says:
“O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”
Qur’an 39:53
Look at the mercy in this message.
Allah addresses those who have wronged themselves, yet He still calls them “My servants.”
Your sins do not make Allah’s mercy unavailable to you.
Your past does not prevent you from making tawbah.
Your mistakes do not mean you cannot begin again.
The door remains open as long as you sincerely turn back to Him.
Your Sin Is Not Bigger Than Allah’s Mercy
Sometimes Shaytan convinces a person that their sins are too great to forgive.
A person falls into the same sin again and again. They feel ashamed. They become hopeless. Eventually, they stop asking Allah for forgiveness.
This is a dangerous mistake.
When you fall, get back up.
When you sin, make tawbah.
When you become distant, return.
When your heart becomes hard, ask Allah to soften it.
When you lose your way, ask Allah to guide you.
Do not allow your sin to become the reason you abandon Allah.
Instead, let your sin become the reason you return to Him with greater sincerity.
The Qur’an commands believers to hasten toward forgiveness, not postpone it.
Tawbah Means More Than Saying “Astaghfirullah”
True repentance requires more than words.
When a believer sincerely turns back to Allah, they recognize their mistake, feel genuine regret, seek Allah’s forgiveness, and make a sincere effort to leave the sin.
If the sin involves another person’s rights, repentance also requires correcting the wrong as far as possible.
Tawbah changes the direction of your life.
You do not simply say, “I am sorry.”
You say, “Ya Allah, I want to come back to You.”
Then you take action.
You leave what displeases Allah.
You return to prayer.
You reconnect with the Qur’an.
You repair broken relationships.
You stop deliberately returning to the same disobedience.
You replace bad habits with good deeds.
You make your relationship with Allah a priority.
Start With One Step
You do not need to change your entire life in one night.
Start with the next prayer.
Open the Qur’an and read a few verses.
Make sincere dua.
Say Astaghfirullah with awareness.
Give charity.
Help someone.
Forgive someone.
Leave one sin.
Wake up for Fajr.
Spend a few quiet minutes remembering Allah.
Small sincere steps can change the direction of your life.
Do not underestimate one sincere moment between you and Allah.
Do Not Let Dunya Distract You
This world constantly demands our attention.
We chase money.
We chase status.
We chase followers.
We chase recognition.
We chase possessions.
We chase success.
There is nothing inherently wrong with earning, building, achieving, and enjoying lawful blessings. Islam does not ask us to abandon the world.
But we must never allow the world to make us forget the One who gave it to us.
A person can own the world and still lose their heart.
Another person can own very little and remain incredibly close to Allah.
The real success lies in knowing where you are going.
This life is temporary.
Allah is our destination.
Remember the Day When Excuses Will End
Today, you can say:
“I will repent tomorrow.”
Tomorrow, you may say:
“I still have plenty of time.”
But eventually, there will come a moment when you can no longer postpone anything.
Your opportunities will end.
Your worldly plans will end.
Your ability to perform another good deed will end.
That is why Allah tells us to return to Him before the punishment comes and before we lose the opportunity to seek help.
Do not wait for your final moments to remember Allah.
Remember Him while you still have strength.
Pray while you still have the ability to stand.
Repent while you still have time.
Give while you still possess something to give.
Forgive while you still have the opportunity.
Turn toward Allah while you are still living.
Allah Wants You to Return
One of the most beautiful aspects of Islam is that Allah does not close the door because you have fallen.
He invites you back.
You may have spent years away from prayer.
Return.
You may have committed sins that you deeply regret.
Return.
You may have neglected the Qur’an.
Return.
You may have allowed dunya to consume your heart.
Return.
You may have made promises to Allah and broken them.
Return again.
Never allow shame to convince you that you cannot return to your Creator.
Allah describes Himself as Al-Ghafur, the Most Forgiving, and Ar-Rahim, the Most Merciful.
Before You Return to Allah, Turn to Allah
One day, every one of us will return to Allah سبحانه وتعالى.
That return will not depend on our wishes.
It will not wait for our business to succeed.
It will not wait until we get married.
It will not wait until we become financially secure.
It will not wait until we finish our plans.
Death does not ask whether we are ready.
So prepare now.
Turn to Allah before you return to Allah.
Make tawbah before you stand before Him.
Build your relationship with Him before you need His mercy.
Pray before someone prays over you.
Read the Qur’an before others read about your death.
Give charity before your wealth becomes someone else’s inheritance.
Ask forgiveness before you stand before the One who knows every hidden thing.
And most importantly, never lose hope in Allah.
The same Lord who created you knows your weaknesses, knows your mistakes, knows your struggles, and still calls you back.
A Final Reminder
Perhaps this message reached you at the right moment.
Perhaps Allah is giving you another opportunity to turn back.
Do not ignore it.
Put your phone down for a moment.
Make wudu.
Stand before Allah.
Raise your hands.
Speak to Him honestly.
Tell Him about your regrets.
Ask Him for forgiveness.
Ask Him to guide you.
Ask Him to strengthen your heart.
Ask Him to help you leave what displeases Him.
And then take the first step.
You do not know how much time remains.
But you have this moment.
Use it to turn to Allah before you return to Allah.
May Allah سبحانه وتعالى forgive our sins, accept our tawbah, soften our hearts, strengthen our iman, guide us toward what pleases Him, and allow us to return to Him while He is pleased with us.
Ameen.
